Leadership & Practice
My professional work focuses on faculty affairs, academic systems, policy, and institutional change. Across these areas, I am especially interested in how institutions can design processes and structures that are clear, sustainable, and responsive to the people who experience them.
My work has included university-level leadership of faculty lifecycle processes, faculty information systems, shared governance initiatives, academic policy development, faculty engagement, data governance, and cross-functional institutional change.
Faculty Affairs & Faculty Success
Much of my work has centered on the faculty lifecycle and the policies, systems, and institutional practices that shape faculty careers.
This work has reinforced my interest in the relationship between institutional structures and faculty success: how seemingly administrative processes can influence trust, clarity, professional development, and a faculty member's experience of the institution.
Faculty Voice & Institutional Improvement
I led my institution's work with the Collaborative on Academic Careers in Higher Education (COACHE), guiding the initiative across survey administration, analysis, priority-setting, strategy development, implementation, and preparation for subsequent survey cycles.
Rather than approaching COACHE as a one-time assessment, I have worked to use faculty feedback as a foundation for institutional dialogue and action. This has included initiatives related to shared governance, transparency, faculty recognition, community-building, leadership, and organizational culture.
That experience has strengthened my interest in research-practice connections and in the ways institutions can create meaningful mechanisms for faculty voice, close feedback loops, and demonstrate accountability for organizational improvement.
Faculty Systems & Organizational Change
I have led the multi-year implementation and expansion of Interfolio as a faculty lifecycle platform, helping transition major faculty processes from paper-based and fragmented workflows to integrated digital systems.
The work has included promotion, sabbatical, and professional development leave, faculty evaluations, professional development planning and reporting, terminal rank review, change-in-appointment processes, faculty activity reporting, and ongoing system development. It has also required sustained faculty engagement, training, testing, feedback, and collaboration across Academic Affairs, faculty governance, institutional research, and information technology.
For me, the most important lesson from this work has been that successful transformation is rarely about the technology alone. It depends on trust, communication, participation, and whether the people affected by a new system understand both its purpose and their role in shaping it.
